Union Bay, on Vancouver Island, is a historic oceanside town which we are collaborating on to revitalize and provide a vision for its future evolution to a mixed-use destination community providing live, work, commercial, educational, and amenity/recreational uses. The multi-phase development is anchored by its ‘heart’ in the existing waterfront bay where marina, hotel, commercial and residential uses are located. The buildings are arranged around a considerable greenspace network, and mixed-use “main street’. A new courtyard single-family housing form is proposed offering a unique ground-oriented housing typology enhanced by the spectacular surrounding scenery and ocean views. Buildings will be contemporary and take cues from the history of the site and Westcoast setting.
